Originating from January 2020, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation and Collaboration was signed by HATTORI Yasunao, Ph. D., the President of NIAD-QE, and Prof. Luca Lantero, Ph.D., the Director General of CIMEA and renewed on February 3rd, 2025. It is now effective until February 2030.

CIMEA is an organization in the Italy that functions as a national information center (ENIC-NARIC center) conducting evaluations of foreign qualifications and provision of information on related affairs, established in accordance with the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region (the Lisbon Recognition Convention). Recently it has been initiating various international projects which support fair and smooth qualification recognition, including the "RecoASIA project" which aims at favouring and increasing the quality of vertical and horizontal mobility within the Asian and European higher education systems.

NIAD-QE and CIMEA have developed its partnership through various collaborative activities, such as regular exchanges of information on the recognition of qualifications in higher education, keynote speech by Prof. Luca Lantero, Ph.D. in the NIAD-QE University Quality Assurance Forum, NIAD-QE's participation in "RecoASIA project," and study visits to each office.

In light of this renewal of the MoU, NIAD-QE and CIMEA will continue to work together to assure international cooperation and transparency in the recognition of qualifications in higher education.
