Assessment of Admission Qualifications (in general)

Q:How can I confirm that a foreign institution from which an applicant has graduated is legitimate?

A:Generally speaking, legitimacy of an institution can be confirmed from a list of accredited institutions available from a website of the government which approves establishment of such institutions or public agencies which manages such a list. For example, some countries make a list of universities available at its Ministry of Education’s website.

Please refer to the appropriate country here (in Japanese only) for links to listing of higher education institutions in that country.

Additional useful sources of information are listed below:

(1) Listing of higher education institutions is published by a national information centre of each country. Website links to national information centre of each country is available at ENIC/NARIC's website.

(2) World Higher Education Database (WHED) managed by International Association of Universities.

If a list of approved universities is not available, one solution is to contact the national information centre in the country of the institution in question.

Please refer to the appropriate country here (in Japanese only) for links to national information centre of that country.
