Assessment of Admission Qualifications (in general)
Q: Is a person who has not graduated from an upper secondary school in Japan be eligible for admission to a university in Japan?
A: A person who meets any of the criteria listed on the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) website's "Entrance Qualification for Universities" is eligible for admission to a university. Even if a person has not graduated from an upper secondary school in Japan, the person is eligible for admission to a university in Japan if, for example, the person has completed 12 years of school education in a foreign country, passed the Upper Secondary School Equivalency Examination, or completed an Upper Secondary Course of a Specialized Training College designated by the Minister of MEXT.
