11-year School Education Course

Foreign Credential Evaluations (in general)

Q: Is a person who has graduated from high school in a country with an 11-year primary and secondary education curriculum eligible for admission to a university in Japan?

A: Yes, the person may be eligible.

In countries with an 11-year primary and secondary education course, the following (※) are designated individually; therefore, graduating from a high school in that country will qualify a student for university admission. In addition, if there is no individual designation, eligibility for admission to a university will be recognized upon completion of a preparatory education curriculum designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, after completing the curriculum in that country.
