Foreign Credential Evaluations (in general)
Q: What procedures must be followed to be added as an international accreditation agency such as WASC, ACSI, CIS, etc. that allows graduates of international schools accredited by the said agency to be qualified for admission to universities?
A: After being added as an international accreditation agency, those who complete a course at an educational facility accredited by the said agency are qualified for admission to universities. The procedure is as follows:
- The accreditation agency that wishes to be added contacts the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), exchanges information, and submits the relevant documents to it.
- MEXT conducts an investigation based on the documents submitted by the accreditation agency.
- If the investigation determines that the accreditation agency is appropriate, MEXT will revise the Public Notice of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture No.47 of 1948 → addition is complete.
