 Report: NIC-Japan seminar on Indian Education System and Higher Education Qualifications

Activities

The National Information Center for Academic Recognition Japan (NIC-Japan) held an online seminar entitled "Indian Education System and Higher Education Qualifications" on December 16, 2024 (Monday).

The second seminar in 2024 was held on the topic of Indian education system and higher education qualifications. The lecture was given by WATANABE Masayuki, Ph.D., the Associate Professor of Biwako-Gakuin University. The seminar was attended by approximately 190 participants, mainly faculty and staff members involved in admissions and international affairs at universities and other institutions.

At the beginning of the event, Professor MORI Rie, the Executive Director of NIC-Japan gave an opening address with expressions of gratitude toward the lecturers and expectations for the seminar.

In the lecture, there were comprehensive explanations, including the overview of Indian education system, types of higher education institutions, and university admission systems which differ per academic field. He also gave explanations on the Indian unique initiatives such as a university ranking system called "National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)," which result is announced by the Indian government.

The lecture was followed by Q&A session, which involved lively interactions between participants and the lecturers, and the event ended on a high note.
