The National Information Center for Academic Recognition Japan (NIC-Japan) held an online seminar entitled " Thailand's Higher Education System and Higher Education Qualifications" on Monday, January 30, 2023.

As part of its activities to provide information that contributes to the smooth recognition of higher education qualifications for the purpose of improving the international mobility of students and academics, NIC-Japan has been holding the "NIC-Japan Seminar Series" since FY2021, in which experts from Japan and overseas discuss various topics related to recognition of foreign qualifications, such as examples of such qualifications and education systems.

The third seminar for FY2022 was held on the topic of Thailand's higher education system and qualifications. The lecture was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bundit Thipakorn, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. The seminar was attended by more than 140 participants, mainly faculty and staff members involved in international affairs and admissions at universities and other institutions.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. HOTTA Taiji, Senior Advisor of NIC-Japan, who served as the moderator gave an opening address with expressions of gratitude toward the lecturer and the expectations for the seminar.
At the lecture, Dr. Bundit gave an overview of Thailand's education system, as well as a comprehensive explanation on the Thailand's university entrance examination system called "TCAS," and the change in a governmental agency supervising higher education. In addition, he gave a detailed explanation about the direction of Thailand's higher education reform which promotes curriculum design based on learning outcomes and continues improvement, to nurture human resources who can flexibly utilize the knowledge in the rapidly changing world. After the lecture, Q&A session was held which lively interactions done between participants and the lecturer.
The seminar was held successfully, concluding with a special gratitude to the lecturer for his thought-provoking lecture and the Q&A session from Dr. HOTTA.
