Introduction: A Comprehensive List of Evaluation and Accreditation Results in Japan

Japan

In Japan, the quality assurance of higher education is maintained through two systems defined by the School Education Act: the Approval/Notification System for Establishment; and the Certified Evaluation and Accreditation (CEA) System. The CEA system involves periodic assessments conducted by evaluation and accreditation agencies certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. These agencies evaluate higher education institutions (universities, junior colleges, Colleges of Technology (KOSEN), Professional and Vocational Universities (PVU), Professional and Vocational Junior Colleges (PVJC), and professional graduate schools) based on their own standards, focusing on the overall status of educational and research activities.

To promote collaboration and information sharing, these agencies have formed the Japanese Network of Certified Evaluation and Accreditation Agencies (JNCEAA), which currently consists of 15 members. JNCEAA collects information on CEA results and good practices identified by the member agencies, and publishes them on its website.

The List of CEA Results provides a comprehensive overview of each institution's evaluation year, result (accredited, unaccredited, etc.), evaluating agency, and links to final report. Users can easily check the latest accreditation status of each institution. The site also offers search functions by institution name, evaluation year, and region, making it simple to access specific information.

This List serves as a reliable source of information for verifying whether a Japanese higher education institution has been accredited, particularly in the process of assessment and recognition of academic qualifications awarded by the institution.
