About The Center and This Website

Q: What kind of work does the National Information Center for Academic Recognition Japan do?

A: In accordance with UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (the Tokyo Convention) and Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education (the Global Convention), this center provides appropriate information both domestically and internationally regarding the following:

  1. Explanation of Japanese higher education system
  2. Types of Japanese higher education institutions
  3. Admission qualifications of Japanese higher education institutions
  4. A list of Japan's higher education institutions
  5. Explanation of the quality assurance system in Japanese higher education

In addition, the center disseminates information about education systems of other countries, focusing on state parties to the Tokyo Convention and the Global Convention, mainly to serve domestic stakeholders. We also conduct research activities and network with NICs of other countries.
